Dr. R. N. Sreenivas Gowda
Dr.R.N.Sreenivas Gowda earned his BVSc, MVSc and PhD. from University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore with distinction & Gold Medal. Worked as Teacher, Researcher and Extension Worker, Associate Professor, Professor & Head, Faculty of Veterinary Science, UAS, Bangalore for 30 years. Also worked as Director, Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals, Hebbal, Bangalore, a premier vaccine producing unit of the state as well as National and International repute.
Dr.Gowda's areas of specialization are Pathology, disease diagnosis and patho-epidemiology of diseases of livestock and poultry. He guided 35 MVSc and PhD students during his tenure at UAS, besides being Member of Advisory Committee for more than 150 students. He has published more than 225 research and extension articles in several national and international journals.
Widely traveled nationally and internationally on invitation to present more than 170 topics of veterinary importance. He is member of nine scientific societies. To his credit, he worked on many poultry diseases, their patho-epidemiology, prevention and their control. He has identified cause for a new disease Hydro pericardium and Hepatitis Syndrome for the first time in the country and suggested suitable measures to prevent it. Recognising his services, both to the State and the Country, he has been awarded with more than nine state as well as National level awards.
